Codex RescueUsage & credits
Check your Codex usage
The useful number is the one in your account. Here’s where to find it and what to check next.
Where do I see my remaining allowance?
For plan-based Codex usage, start in Settings or your account’s usage dashboard. In an active CLI session, /status is a documented way to inspect your current state. Menu labels can vary by client and release.

CLI analytics versus remaining limits
The CLI 0.156.0 release notes document /usage as an analytics dashboard for account usage, token totals, and plugin and skill activity. Use a supported release; analytics totals and the current remaining allowance answer different questions.
Match the number to the allowance
- Plan limits: check which allowance is exhausted and the reset time shown for it.
- Purchased or workspace credits: read the credit balance and applicable workspace policy, rather than treating them as a universal message quota.
- API-key billing: use the OpenAI API usage dashboard. API usage and ChatGPT plan allowances are separate.
If the numbers do not look right
Confirm the account, workspace and sign-in method first. A changed plan, a granted reset or a different allowance can explain why two views differ. This site does not estimate exact remaining tokens from public pricing, task counts or someone else’s limits.

- Usage limit reached: identify the exhausted allowance
